Pre Care:
- Hydrate at least 3 days before your injections. Cut down on salty foods.
- For a lip flip: If you get cold sores, text our office a week before your appointment for a prescription. Include your date of birth, pharmacy phone number, and any allergies.
- Avoid caffeine before your appointment to reduce bleeding, bruising, and pain.
- Schedule injections 3 to 4 weeks before any important events.
- Don’t drink alcohol 24 hours before. You can bring coffee to drink after your appointment.
Post Care:
- Call 911 if you have trouble breathing, swallowing, speaking, or any life-threatening symptoms.
- Flu-like symptoms are rare but may last 2-3 days. Drink fluids, rest, and take Tylenol or Motrin as directed. Report to NP Karla via office phone immediately (not social media).
- Jeuveau/Botox will start working in 2 to 14 days and peak in about 2 weeks. If you need a higher dosage, it will not be added until 14 days after your first appointment. Results last 3 to 4 months on average. More units can mean longer-lasting results.
- You can use cosmetics, moisturizers, and lotions the next day but be gentle.
- Moving the treated muscles (like making faces) can help the product settle faster but doesn’t affect how well it works.
Do NOT:
- Don’t lie down or bend over for 3 hours after injections.
- Don’t massage your face for 24 hours. You can wash your face normally tonight with a gentle cleanser but avoid massaging the injected area.
- Avoid strenuous exercise or anything that raises your core body temperature for 48 hours.
- No hats or headbands for 48 hours.
- Keep pets away from the area for 48 hours to avoid infection.
May Be Seen:
- Small bumps at the injection sites are normal and should go away in a few hours.
- Bruising may happen and should heal within a week. Arnica Montana (topical/oral) can help with bruising.
- Headaches are possible; take OTC Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen as needed.
- Sensitive or blurry vision can happen for 2-3 days. Wear sunglasses and use moisturizing eye drops.
